    Smoke Alarm Recommendations?

Both my smoke alarms (same model) that run on 12v and have a relay, so not only did they run on the Idratek power supply, they were connected to an input so that things happened if either went off.. have passed their best before date

Plus they are no longer manufactured and I can't find a suitable alternative. Any recommendations please?

    Thanks Chris

Yes I spotted that one too, but it doesn't have a sounder plus looks like it belongs in a village hall!

        how about :

Ei181 from the Aico range of products is a 12V – 24V Interconnectable Ionisation Smoke Alarm with Relay and Battery Back Up. It comes with an Easi-Fit base.

Yes I've used these myself in the past. They were a good solution, but unfortunately Aico have stopped making them and their suggested alternative is not a true alternative and somewhat unwieldy. Haven't had reason to install any smoke detectors personally recently, but from a quick scan it does seem that a similar offering combining 12V working, local sounder and battery backup is somewhat scarce. Looked like there might be something from further afield e.g Australia or China but as is usual these days not much in terms of details when you browse via web sites..
