Temperature Floor probe, how to input to Idratek?

    Hi All,

Not had to do this before, apologies if this has been covered before, but how does one take in a 2-wire floor temp probe into Idratek?

(also how does it work, as I suppose it can't just be a digital input, I guess it's a resistive graded input of some description)?

    Thanks in advance,

    Marcus

I don't think I've ever seen anything other than thermistor probes used in this application area and in any case it's your choice unless pre-fitted. So its a NTC variable resister, typically 10k@25C. You'd need to connect this into an analogue input containing module. This means a QAI (4 channels), DRH-003 (1 channel), SRH-003 (1 channel), or there are also two WiFi based options but not battery powered: SRM-W01 and not yet released DCS-W01 (small 24V version of SRM for valve actuators). You need to know the 25C resistance value (as I say typically 10k but have seen others. You can measure) and preferably also the 'beta' value which can help improve accuracy of mapping in Cortex (though again there is a typical value). Once you have the signal connected you can do a variety of things with it in Cortex. In one UFH application for example I have used two HVAC objects, one for the air temperature and one for the floor temperature with a form of arbitration. It is an interesting psychological vs control exercise as generally is the case with heating control :-)
