LinITX have just added some interesting new touchscreen PCs to their site. Now available in sizes from 8.4″ to 17.1″, these silent fanless, wall mountable systems are perfect for smart home applications.
“LinITX.com today announces additions to the range of Touchscreen Panel PC’s from embedded specialist LEX System of Taiwan. The new Touchscreen Panel PC’s use the VIA C7 CPU to give good performance coupled with low heat output, which allows these systems to be completely fanless and therefore almost silent.
The MV700A mainboard has a single DDR2 RAM slot that supports up to 1GB, of which 128MB can be attributed to the onboard VIA Unichrome Pro II Intregrated Graphics Processor (IGP) which is a feature of the CX700M system media processor chipset which also includes audio, memory, storage and HDTV support in a single chip design.
The MV700A Panel PC is currently available from stock with a choice of 10.4″, 12.4″ and 17″ LCD Panels, with 8.4″ and 15.1” Panels being added to the range very soon.

The integrated resistive Touchscreen in these systems makes them ideal to use for many home automation applications, particularly as wall mounted controllers.
Storage options for Operating System and Data include an onboard Compact Flash slot, 2.5″ or 3.5″ Hard Drive mountings, dependent on model, or to use a Flash Disk Module (FDM) which will plug directly into the IDE socket on the mainboard. LinITX.com hold a wide range of Compact Flash Cards, FDM modules and hard drives suitable for these systems.”

Maaan, that’s one chunky thing! I think it’d pull my whole wall down if I tried mounting that on my wall!
Paul: Is your home made from cardboard or something? All non-structural walls should have a wooden framework behind it, on which the unit can be mounted. Why do you think wall mount flat panel televisions are so popular?
Phhht, it’s 7KG too. That’s lighter than a moderately sized bit of art on the wall. You may want to invest in a properly built home.
Woah, that’s a chunky slab of kit! I would be interested to install something like that in my hallway, but I fear for my house.
Good gracious, that thing is a monster…
