Aaeon have announced the AEC-6905, a fanless PC that runs Linux, Windows CE or Windows XP Embedded. Housed in an impressive aluminium case which as a heatsink to keep the unit cool, it can be surface mounted.
“with its Aluminum chassis, with mounting holes that allow it to be fixed securely to a wall or floor. Its case doubles as a heat sink, allowing the AEC-6905 to operate without a fan.
The device’s chipset is not specified, but it supports Intel Celeron M processors from 600MHz to 1GHz, and provides integrated VGA output. A single SODIMM socket accepts up to 1GB of DDR memory.
The AEC-6905 allows for either rotating or solid-state disk storage, with both an SATA/IDE interface and an externally accessible CompactFlash slot. Whichever is utilized, the device appears to be more resistant to shock and heat than most computers. With an SSD (solid-state disk), it is rated to withstand a 50g shock of 11msec duration; with a HDD (hard disk drive), that rating falls to 20g. The computer’s operating temperatures range from -20 to 60 deg. C with an SSD, and from -20 to 55 deg. C with an HDD.
A 10/100 Ethernet connector and analog VGA output are included on the computer. The AEC-6905 also offers four USB ports, four serial ports, and a PS/2 port for keyboard and mouse. Audio mic-in, line-in, and line-out functionality is provided via a DIN connector and dedicated extension cable.
Finally, the AEC-6905’s 13.3 x 11.6 x 10.3 case houses a PCI expansion slot, plus a PC/104-Plus interface with room for a two-board stack. It has a power jack that accepts DC inputs from 9VDC to 30VDC.”
