Crestrons new Pyng app enables the complete setup and control of your home automation system from your iPad.
While Crestron hardware installations will remain the domain of the approved installer, Pyng will give home owners the ability to tweak scenes for each room and schedule events from their iPad, without having to get their integrator involved. With the automatic cloud backup there’s always a path to return to a working setup should things go wrong.
Creston boast that an entire house can be setup and ready in minutes without ever opening a laptop…
Setting up a new home is streamlined by pairing Crestron Pyng accessories with the app. Accessories include Crestron wireless lighting controls, thermostats, as well as security systems. Unlike home automation apps that control one device, or offer limited, “DIY-level” performance, Crestron Pyng controls the same award-winning Crestron professional products found in the world’s most prestigious homes.
The Pyng hub is available to connect accessories with the app and it will run scenes and events even without the presence of an iPad. Pyng is available now for iOS with support for Android, Mac and Windows in the works.

As I understand it, the Pyng system supports control of Crestron’s own lighting, shades, thermostats etc. so no third party products and no AV control.
However it does show how many control system manufacturers are now trying to expand their market into middle or even low end systems.
