Our Cheat Sheet From Apple’s iPhone, Watch, HomeKit Announcements Today

Apple have just finished their most important keynote address of the year “See you on the 7th”. This annual Autumn announcement brings details of their latest iPhones.

A pretty dull opening segment saw Tim Cook fluff his lines and the Nintendo rep seem to say “Thanks Steve” to him.

They finally got to the hardware stuff, however, as with the last few years, if you have been following the rumour sites then you’ll already know almost everything that has been announced, apart from one or two interesting little details…

New iPhones

  • A10 Fusion 4-core CPU, 40% faster than 6S
  • New graphics 50% Faster than 6S
  • Solid state Home Button with Taptic engine
  • ‘Water & Dust Resistant’ IP67
  • 7 Camera – optical stabilised, F1.8, 12MP, Quad LED Flash
  • 7+ Camera – 2 x 12mp cameras
  • 1 x 28mm & 1 x 56mm gives 2x optical and 10x digital zoom
  • Shallow DoF coming with software upgrade later
  • RAW .dng files available to devs (hurray!)
  • 7mp FaceTime HD Camera
  • 25% brighter displays, wide colour gamut
  • 2nd speaker in earpiece = stereo, 2x Louder
  • Headphone Socket removed
  • Lightning Headphones & adaptor included
  • Longest Battery Life in an iPhone
  • New ‘AirPods‘ wireless headphone option £159 coming October
  • New ‘Jet Black’ high gloss and ‘Black’ matt options
  • Same prices as 6S with double the storage – 32, 128, 256GB
  • Upgrade programe coming to UK

  1. “Nintendo rep”? You need to up your game if you want to talk games. Shigeru Miyamoto is a freaking legend in video game design. Mario, Donkey Kong, Legend of Zelda are all games where he is credited as the key creative guy. Apparently he always likes to say a few words in English at the start of his presentations and confusion often ensues.

  2. @Bill – sorry to you and your Mario loving kin, we don’t cover games so lost on us. Mind you, legend or not Mr Miyamoto should try not to call Tim “Steve” 😉
