Top 20 Automated Home Posts of the Year 2013

Another year has passed and with it the chance to look back at the state of the union in the world of home automation. There have been many new smart home product launches during the last 12 months and often they’ve sprung from the crowd funding sites KickStarter and Indiegogo.

Smartphone and tablet apps have cemented themselves as the control medium of choice as every area of the smart home has embraced the ubiquitous touch screens. The ever popular Raspberry Pi features 3 times in our top 10 and there’s still plenty of interest in heating controls too with 4 entries in the top 20. An honourable mention goes to our BMW i3 Electric car review, which saw the biggest single days traffic of the year.

You bargain hunting Plex fans out there put the £10 Now TV hack at number 3 and our number 2 post on iBeacons was picked up by GigaOm and got a Retweet from Robert Scoble no less (fame at last).
